reminiscing my week of good food/company/fun/work (:

what a great week/weekend!
i usually don't blog about my days in detail but this week was so fulfilling!

it really started on THURS,
when i kickstarted my piano lesson with Matt again..
busy practicing in the middle of the night

loved Yoga 林宥嘉's 想自由 so much that i decided to do a cover of it!
my usual partner in crime Matt on keys,
he's the man of ballads with feel!

Click to watch the youtube cover,
you can also download the song on my facebook bandpage

Met a couple of clients at one of my fav coffee hangout,
Habitat coffee at Upper Thomson Rd..
i always take-away the ice vanilla latte whenever i head over to
Thunder Rock school for song-writing or recording..

Weekend brunch Eggs benedict and ice mocha for a weekday (:

Squeezed time for a run around the beautiful bedok reservoir,
which btw i heard the 8th person just died there -_-

Caught the most beautiful sunset along bedok reservoir..

Off to Switch for another rockin' night..
i was told my ring can kill, so don't even think of bullying me. seriously. haha

On FRIDAY,  I went to collect my Tocco Tenero Bag from Wisma Branch,
it's the last month of my brand ambassadorship,
and i got a super pretty & loud blood red piece (more on this in my next blog!)

Yes this was at my condo lift area,
if you're wondering why a noticeboard is behind..
i swear it has the best full length mirror!

Came night-time, had a great time at quarubar again with Matt..
I love friday nights seeing the regulars drop by, all having a good time chilling out,
and especially when they all go crazy singing along with me deep in the night,
like it's a massive ktv session!

My good o' uni friends from Arts Camp came!
it's feels great meeting/catching up with old friends,
makes me feel so old seeing everyone out in society, working (:
These people are the most positive and energetic bunch i swear!

Us back in our uni days, we were the planners for Arts Camp O Week!
we were once so young and free...

Also had a special guest Mr Kenneth Lim at quarubar,
singing probably one of my fav cantonese song, 海阔天空!

Thanks for the sweet usual dedications from regulars/friday peeps!

SATURDAY was non-gig day!
And i went on my first cable ski trip to Batam
with Jocelyn who has been an avid cableskier for 10 years!

The cable ski park was so chillax,
we spent an entire day there, i was getting face-planted half the time,
it was sooo difficult getting off to a good start with cableskiing!
The rest of the time was spent chillaxing in the water,
lazing on the sundecks,
enjoying the breeze and the music blasting..

The sundecks were really awesome!
Did i mention there was a trampoline?
I haven't tried jumping on it since i was a kid,
i was kinda surprised how fun it was and i was laughing like a small girl jumping about..
it was so fun!

Thanks jocelyn for inviting us to Batam Cable Ski!
Superb day ended with dinner at Madnest.. and it was madness good!!

SUNDAY i was muscle-aching all over and kinda paralysed..
but work comes first!
At Traders Hotel's wedding fair with Sparkle Live Music! (:

My lovely royal blue dress was sponsored by Love Bonito!
My sis and I went down to their store for a massive shopping session previously..
Viola was so nice showing us all their collection,
i can't wait to share my loot with you guys in my next few blogposts!

So those were the days of my life (:
I hope every week can be as fulfilling as this!

家 (:

2 weeks before National Day,
Matt and i decided to do a heartfelt cover of our favourite national day song....

Home.
Featuring Matthew Siew on keys,
my trusty partner every Friday at Quarubar (:

我的家,
给我,
一双坚定翅膀,

我的梦,
不论在何方。
一生的爱,
唯有家。

I'm a true blue Singaporean, with a hopeless penchant for Singaporean food
(i nearly died 4 months overseas in the states when confronted with everyday fries and all things upsized),
and a love for our one and only language - Singlish.

I'm not gna pretend to be all patriotic but this is really one of my all-time favourite National Day song,
sung by non other than local star Kit Chan.
Heartfelt and melodically touching, the lyrics spoke to me,
not just from the POV of the nation at large,
but also reminded me of the love from my family (:

Happy national day folks (: I hope you like our rendition of Home!

p.s: Kexin & Matthew plays every friday at Quarubar (113 Frankel Avenue), 9pm till 12mn!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was actually inspired by Yew Meng to record this video,
because he showed me some national day covers during my interview on his show.
Yew Meng's the director, producer and write of Mengspiration,
and he interview my sister and i for a 1-hr National Day Documentary Special (:
'O Singapura: Songs to inspire a nation' will be airing on Mediacorp Okto,
Thursday, 10pm. 23 August 2012.

O Singapura’ is the story of Singapore’s national & patriotic songs
through the decades and how they came to mean so much to us.

It features the people & stories behind familiar songs like "Majulah Singapura",
"Count on Me Singapore", "We Are Singapore", "Home"
and insightful interviews with Jeremy Monteiro Monteiro, Dick Lee,
陳潔儀 Kit Chan, Clement Chow, Dr. Sydney Tan, Sheikh Haikel, Ann Hussein,
Tay Kewei & Tay Kexin (郑可欣), 53A,
Dr. Bernard Tan & Singaporeans from all walks of life.

I'm so fortunate to be featured with my sister and alongside so the veterans of local music scene!

Some Behind the scenes shots..
We had the interview within the comforts of the old sophisticated
Victoria Bar at Intercontinental Hotel.

We were put through some memory test on the good'o national day songs!
Thanks Yew Meng and the crew for the feature!
Do stay tuned to Okto on Thurs, 23 Aug, 10pm!

It's a regular affair..

I lovee doing my Thurs regulars at Switch (:

Switch is the newest Timbre Branch located right next to the Singapore Art Museum,
and one of the first few bars to host bilingual live music!

And i'm so very happy to witness,
and also be part of this up & coming trend (:
Singaporeans need some live bilingual music!

What i really like about doing regulars,
is having friends that i've not seen for years coming to support me (:

I've long-lost secondary school/uni friends,

dearie steph, my uni-mate, people say we look alike!

acquaintances,
ex-colleagues,
dearie family members,

current close girlfriends,
fans/strangers-turned-friends,

Thanks jianqiang for always supporting and your song dedications!

Alan & Jason, thanks for the photography/brainstorm session!
I'm so spoilt at Switch because i have people bringing sweet treats!!
Here's Linda and her awesomeee brownies,
check out her baking website http://www.smallfrybakes.com
And all the way from Australia,
thanks shang for dropping by!
Definitely won't forget evon and her twelve cupcakes!!
Thanks for the continuous support & turning up for all my shows!
Appreciate it deep!

with all these people turning up weekly at my regular spots,
i'm sooo grateful.

i'm not exactly best at keeping friends
partly cos my job doesn't allow me to be free when most people are.
So it's really a heartwarming feeling catching up with so many people i know.

There are many things i love about Switch,
  • It's quirky yet cozy interior
Switch's fully packed for fridays/sats,
and for Thurs you sometimes even gotta queue!
So please make advance reservations if you want good seats (:

  • the fantabulous western-asian fusion inspired food,
not to mention the cool ipad ordering system,
I'm there every single week so trust me for food reco!!
First timers MUST TRY the timbre's signature..
 DUCK PIZZA.
It's a wonderful mix of sweet-salty hoisin sauce & mozzarella cheese,
topped with roasted duck & crispy popiah skin!!
HEAVEN.

& my personal favourite asian dish is the
POACHED CHICKEN LEG & HERB PASTA!
Super comfort food that warms my tummy mmm...
The angel hair pasta is served with a thick broth of wolfberries & red dates (:

For a refreshing Ladies' drink, you have to try
SAKURA
it's a mix of house vodka, lychee liquer & ribena.. i love!

Alfred's my super partner!
Though we are not a duo, we've been singing together for ard 4-5 years
for various weddings & events at Sparkle Live Music (www.sparkle-music.com)
He's suave, funny & not to mention really talented!
Not only does he have a rockin' tone & versatility,
his impersonation skill of louis armstrong, andy lau, jacky cheung etc. is flawless.
You gotta come to hear it for yourself!

  • and the ever-entertaining dedication system
that played a part in celebrating so many people's
birthdays, hen's night, marriage anniversaries, career promotion, farewell etc.
Switch is definitely somewhere you wanna be at for all occasions!

Want somewhere with great food, perfect ambience, good live music to hangout?
